Cyzner Institute on Baldwin

With a combined history of over 30 years of unique service delivery models of education in the Charlotte metro, Kent Academy and Cyzner Institute are excited to announce that, starting in fall of 2025, the sister organizations will have a co-located site on 125 Baldwin Ave. Each school will maintain its unique identity, employees, and enrollment process, and Cyzner Institute Day School and Therapeutic Center will maintain its original campus on Sardis Road while adding a second campus location at the Baldwin address. This co-location opportunity will create a new way for the two entities to provide a wider continuum of services than either can individually.

Kent Academy, an accredited school serving kindergarteners through 12th graders, specializes in individualized learning programs in small classroom environments for students who are twice exceptional. The school has been operating since 2011.

Cyzner Institute has provided day school and therapeutic services for children with autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, and mental health needs for over 20 years. It is the only organization of its kind in the Charlotte metro area, and its day school is accredited.

By having their programs located in the same building, Kent Academy and Cyzner Institute bridge a gap in the spectrum of services for children with unique learning and behavioral profiles while maintaining each organization’s long-refined learning model. Students at Kent who need additional therapeutic services can receive add on therapy through Cyzner Institute without needing to leave the Kent campus. Students at Cyzner Institute on Baldwin will benefit from social interactions with same-age peers by partaking in certain Kent Academy events. And for Cyzner Institute on Baldwin students who develop the skill sets needed to participate regularly in a Kent classroom, the opportunity to matriculate as a Kent student may be granted. As the students will already be familiar with their new classmates, this may help reduce possible anxiety related to the transition.

This unique co-location endeavor allows for more seamless transitions between levels of educational and therapeutic need while creating a more inclusive learning environment. Both schools will carry forward their culture and time-tested instruction methods while allowing more children to receive services sooner, interact with a wider group of same-age peers, and developmentally and academically progress with fewer boundaries.
